ISELIN, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 2, 2000 Engelhard Corporation (NYSE:EC) today reported net earnings for the fourth quarter ended December 31 of $49.7 million, or 39 cents per share on a diluted basis, compared with $47.8 million, or 33 cents per share, for the same period in 1998. Per-share results were up 18%. Both net and per-share earnings were records for a fourth quarter. Fourth-quarter sales reached $1.11 billion, up 2% from $1.09 billion in the year-ago period.
