Butler Manufacturing Company (NYSE:BBR) reported sales for the second quarter ended June 30, 2002 of $213 million, comparable to a year ago. Net earnings for the quarter were $0.3 million, or $.05 per share, compared with $3.4 million, or $.54 per share, earned in the second quarter of 2001. The significant decline in net earnings for the quarter is primarily due to lower selling prices depressing gross profit margins.
