AVANT REPORTS SECOND QUARTER AND SIX MONTH FINANCIAL RESULTS Conference Call Wednesday, August 6 at 9:00 a.m. Eastern Time AVANT Immunotherapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ: AVAN) today reported financial results for the second quarter and six-month period ended June 30, 2008. AVANT reported a net loss of $10.3 million, or $0.67 per share, for the second quarter of 2008 compared to a net loss of $2.8 million, or $0.33 per share, for the second quarter of 2007. For the six months ended June 30, 2008, AVANT reported a net loss of $32.4 million, or $2.56 per share, compared to a net loss of $6.8 million, or $0.82 per share, for the six months ended June 30, 2007.
