NEW YORK -- Annaly Capital Management, Inc. (NYSE: NLY) today reported Core Earnings for the quarter ended June 30, 2010, of $335.7 million or $0.59 per average share available to common shareholders as compared to Core Earnings of $365.5 million or $0.66 per average share available to common shareholders for the quarter ended June 30, 2009, and Core Earnings of $350.8 million or $0.62 per average share available to common shareholders for the quarter ended March 31, 2010. "Core Earnings" represents a non-GAAP measure and is defined as net income excluding impairment losses, loss on receivable from prime broker, gains or losses on sales of securities and termination of interest rate swaps, unrealized gains or losses on interest rate swaps and unrealized gain or loss on trading securities. On a GAAP basis, net loss for the quarter ended June 30, 2010, was $218.2 million or $0.40 per average share related to common shareholders as compared to net income of $597.1 million or $1.09 per average share related to common shareholders for the quarter ended June 30, 2009, and net income of $28...
