HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 31, 2002 Anadarko Petroleum Corporation (NYSE:APC) said today that its board of directors has approved an initial capital spending budget of $2 billion for 2002. By comparison, the company's capital expenditure program was $3.3 billion in 2001. The reduced spending level reflects currently weak commodity prices for oil and gas.
